Ontario Power Authority has made solar energy a very lucrative investment in Ontario. As of September 30, 2009 the OPA introduced both the Feed-In-Tariff program and the microFIT Program (FIT). These programs are a revised version of Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program (RESOP), but offers a larger financial incentive. The microFIT program is suitable for projects 10 Kilowatts (KW) or under, and the FIT program is suitable for commercial projects over 10KW. All projects are baseon a 20 year contract, creating a long term for investment growth. Applications, contracts and permits are necessary for solar projects governed by the OPA.
